Mikw Chiyâm Artist Line-up Announced

When the Cree School Board invited artists to apply for their Mikw Chiyâm initiative, I was intrigued by the program and its goals. After doing a little research, I was happily surprised to discover an artist-in-residency program whose main purpose is to promote art education in Cree communities and keep students in school. Today, it is with great honour and enthousiasm that I announce my participation in this year's edition! In less then a month, I'll be heading up north to teach photography and multimedia arts in the town of Chisasibi, Québec. Throughout the 5 week program, I will participate in tons of artistic activities in order to stimulate the Cree art scene and challenge the youth to broaden their horizons. Not only will I passionately teach them everything I know about photography, we will also organize an exhibit to showcase the work that resulted from this learning experience. I will be showing a series of documentary portraits alongside the student's work and I look forward to sharing some of this work in progress right here on my new blog!
